Adminstratively, Ulun Danu Beratan Temple located at Candikuning Village, Baturitti Subdistrict, Tabanan regency in Bali-Indonesia. The temple is located it the heart of Bali island, approximatelly 50 Km to the north from Denpasar city and Singaraja.

Ulun Danu Beratan Temple is one of 9 (nine) surrounding Bali island that makes it become one of the most important Temple for the Balinese people especially for the Hindu people. If consist of 5 (five) compounds of temples and 1 (one) Buddhist SStupa, such as:

  • Penataran Agung Temple
  • Lingga Petak Temple (in the middle of lake beratan)
  • Dalem Purwa Temple
  • Prajapati Temple
  • Taman Beji Temple
  • Buddhist Stupa

These compounds of tample located inside the area of “Daya Tarik Wisata Ulun Danu Beratan” and has been taken care for years by the costumertary Villages along with the Government. This temple often being use by the hindu people in Bali and Indonesia to pray to the Almighty God on its manifestation as “Tri Murti” (Brahma, Visnu and Shiva) for the fertility of soil, human wealth and the preservation of the universe

Historically, Temple was built by “I GUSTI AGUNG PUTU” on 1556 Saka (year 1634 AD) and being taken cared of by four “Satakan” from the  costumary Village arround the temple, consist of:

  • Satakan Candi Kunung covering 5 Costumary Villages
  • Satakan Bangah covering 3 Costumary Villages
  • Satakan Antapan covering 4 Costumary Villages
  • Satakan Baturitti covering 6 Costumary Village

Geographically, Ulun Danu Bearatan Temple located approximately 1200 meters above sea level and surrounded by the beautiful scenery of mountainous landscape with its fresh air, this place has become one of the icons of travel in Bali, and has been visited by thousand of visitor from Domestic and International whom spare their time during their vacation Bali

* Penataran Agung Temple: The temple is devoted to worship Tri Purusha,Shiva, Sada Shiva and Parama Shiva founded by “I GUSTI AGUNG PUTU” before Caka year 1556 or 1634 AD. This temple is facing south and can be found it after entering at the balinese gate “Candi Bentar” toweads to the lake beratan

* Dalem Purwa Temple: Here are three main Shrine, Pelinggih Dalem Purwa as the palace and to worship goddess “Dewi Durga” and god “Dewa Ludra” as a source of prosperity, Manik Murda Shrine and a long hall “Bale Pemaruman” as a place to hold the “Upakara” the cereony supplies. The shrine are faces east and located on the south banks of lake Beratan

* Prajapati Temple: A huge Banyan tree standing as a marker of this temple, functioned as a palace of goddess “Dewi Durga”. This facing west shrine is the first shrine encountered, shortly after you pass the ticket box and enter the Ulun Danu Beratan areas

* Taman Beji Temple: Functioned for the holy water “Tirta” pleading and purify “Ngebejiang or Melasti” ceremonies by the surrounding comunities. The Shrine is located to the east of enjung Beji hotel and is not surrounded by any wall

* Lingga Petak Temple: Two shrine called Tengahung Segara Temple with 11 roofs devorted to worship Vishnu and the lake Goddess “Dewi Danu”. To the east side of the first, the other shrine called Lingga Petak Templewith 3 roofs and the sacred well that contains holy water “Tirta” of Ulun Danu, its also a place of a white “Lingga”, flanked by black and red stone. Believed to be the main source of Lake Beratan water and fertility. while the 11 roofs shrine is facing south direction and the 3 roofs shrine has four doors facing the four cardinal’s direction

* Buddhist Stupa: Buddhis Stupa that gives a meaning of relegious harmony. This Buddhist Stupa is facing south and located outside the main temples of Ulun Danu Beratan
